Privacy policy
Draft under attorney review. This policy may change before MetaTalk opens to the public.
This policy covers metacoolsystems.com and the MetaCool and MetaTalk apps. It says what we collect, why, who sees it, and how long we keep it.
What we collect
Your account. Your name, email address, mobile number, the group and team you belong to, and your answers when you sign up (that you are 18 or older and that you accept the terms).
What the app records. When you sign in and out, messages you send and who confirmed them, to-dos, and help requests you send us. On work accounts, the heat checks and other safety records your employer runs.
Location, if you agree. You choose whether to share your location when you join. If you do, the app sends your position while you are signed in, mostly when you move. You can turn it off in the app.
Voice. Live Crew Talk is not recorded. A voice message you send is stored until the people it went to confirm it, or 24 hours, whichever comes first. A reported message is held for 30 days for review.
Face sign-in (work accounts only). If your employer turns on face sign-in and you agree, we store a set of numbers made from your face photo so the app can recognize you at sign-in. We use it only for sign-in, and we delete it when it is no longer needed for that purpose.
Your phone. The kind of phone, its app version and an ID for the device, so we can fix problems and tell which phone a record came from.
How we use it
To run the service: put you in the right group, deliver messages, show your leaders where you are if you agreed, keep safety records, and answer help requests. We also use it to keep the service safe, including stopping misuse. We may tell you about other MetaCool products, and you can ask us to stop.
Who can see it
People in your group see your name and the messages sent to them. Your group's leaders see your location if you agreed. On a work account, your employer sees the safety records it runs. We use service providers to host the apps and data, carry voice and send email; they process data only to provide that service to us. We do not sell your personal information.
We release information to law enforcement only when legally required to, such as by subpoena, warrant or court order, or when someone is in immediate danger. We report child exploitation to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children as the law requires.
How long we keep it
Voice messages and pictures: until confirmed or 24 hours, longer only when reported (30 days) or under legal hold. Safety records on work accounts are kept as evidence for as long as the employer's account requires. Account details are kept while your account is open.
Your choices
You can turn location sharing off in the app. To see, correct or delete your information, or to close your account, email support@metacoolsystems.com from the address you signed up with. Safety records on a work account belong to that account and may need to be kept.
Age
MetaTalk is for people 18 or older. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone younger.
